Logitech G HUB Stuck on Loading: Logitech’s Own Fixes

By the Softwares Academy editors Updated Checked against official sources on 25 Sep 2026

Short answer: Logitech says G HUB gets stuck on its loading screen when its background service hangs. Logitech’s fix for Windows: quit G HUB, end the “LGHUB Agent” and “LGHUB” processes in Task Manager (leave “LGHUB Updater” running), restart the “LGHUBUpdaterService” service, and relaunch. If that fails, reboot, then run the latest G HUB installer and choose “Reinstall.” As a last resort, remove G HUB’s folders by hand and reinstall. On a Mac, G HUB must be allowed in Login Items. If you just want your mouse to work, On-Board Memory mode stores its settings on the mouse itself.

Why G HUB gets stuck on loading

Logitech’s support article explains it in one line: G HUB uses a service for important operations, and “sometimes, that service can get stuck and as a result G HUB presents a spinning G Logo.” The window is waiting for a background process that has stopped responding.

On macOS there is a second documented cause. G HUB adds a background process to Login Items. Logitech says that if you disable it there, device customization won’t work and the app will stay on the loading screen.

Work through the fixes below in order. Each one is from Logitech’s own support pages, both edited in September 2026.

Fix 1: restart the G HUB service (Windows)

  1. Quit G HUB. Right-click the G HUB icon in the system tray and select Quit. Make sure the window is closed.
  2. Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc. If it opens in the simple view, click More details.
  3. End the processes in this order on the Processes tab:
    • “LGHUB Agent”: right-click, End task.
    • “LGHUB”: right-click, End task, for every instance.
    • Leave “LGHUB Updater” running. Logitech says so explicitly.
  4. Restart the service. Open the Services tab, find “LGHUBUpdaterService”, right-click it and choose Restart. Logitech says to wait 10 to 15 seconds until its status shows “Running.”
  5. Launch G HUB from the Start menu.

Still spinning? Logitech’s next step is a full restart of the PC, which it says “often resolves service issues.”

Fix 2: let the installer repair G HUB

Logitech’s install troubleshooting guide lists this as the recommended option when restarting the service isn’t enough. It covers a stuck loading screen, failed launches after updates, and G HUB missing from the programs list.

  1. Download the latest G HUB installer from Logitech’s support site. At the time of writing, Logitech lists version 2026.6.974819, updated September 21, 2026, for Windows 10 and 11 (68.6 MB).
  2. Run it. Logitech says it should detect the broken installation.
  3. Click Reinstall and wait. This uninstalls and reinstalls G HUB.

Logitech notes one version exception. On Windows 10 1803 (build 17134) or older, you need G HUB version 2023.1, which Logitech links from the same download page.

Fix 3: manual removal and clean reinstall

Use this only when the installer’s Reinstall fails. Logitech calls part of it “Remove User Data,” so expect to set up your G HUB profiles again unless they are stored on the device.

  1. Show hidden files. In File Explorer, go to View, Options, “Change folder and search options,” and on the View tab select “Show hidden files, folders, and drives.”
  2. End all G HUB processes in Task Manager: LGHUB.exe, lghub_agent.exe and lghub_updater.exe.
  3. Delete the user data folder: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\LGHUB.
  4. Delete the program data folders: C:\ProgramData\LGHUB, and C:\ProgramData\old.LGHUB if it exists.
  5. Restart the PC.
  6. Install G HUB fresh from Logitech’s download page and launch it.

If folders won’t delete, Logitech’s advice is to restart and try again. For “Access Denied” errors, make sure you are running as administrator.

Logitech’s guide also suggests temporarily disabling antivirus if the installation fails. If you do, use only the installer you downloaded from Logitech, and turn protection back on right after.

If G HUB is stuck on a Mac

Check Login Items first, since it is the cause Logitech documents specifically for macOS:

  1. Open System Settings, then General, then Login Items.
  2. Turn the toggle on for the Logi applications.

If that isn’t it, Logitech’s macOS steps mirror Windows. Quit G HUB from the menu bar, force-quit “Logitech G HUB Agent” and then “Logitech G HUB” in Activity Monitor, and run sudo pkill -f lghub in Terminal. Wait 10 to 15 seconds, then relaunch. For a full reinstall, Logitech lists these items to delete before reinstalling:

  • /Applications/lghub.app
  • /Users/Shared/LGHUB
  • /Library/Application Support/LGHUB
  • /Library/LaunchAgents/com.logi.ghub.plist
  • /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.logi.ghub.updater.plist

Use your mouse without G HUB: On-Board Memory

You may not need G HUB running at all. Logitech G mice with onboard memory can store their settings on the mouse. According to Logitech, when On-Board Memory Mode is on, “all of the customizations you make in G HUB will be written directly to the mouse.”

  1. If your mouse is wireless, connect it with the USB cable or its receiver.
  2. Open G HUB, select the mouse and click the gear icon in the upper right.
  3. Turn On-Board Memory Mode on, and choose the profile to save to the mouse.

Logitech says this stores “some settings” on the device, which you can then carry, for example your DPI, “to another computer without needing to install G HUB.” That takes G HUB’s loading problems out of daily use for those settings. You still need a working G HUB, or Onboard Memory Manager, to change them later.

Onboard Memory Manager: the lightweight alternative

Logitech also publishes Onboard Memory Manager (OMM), a small utility it describes as a tool “to quickly view, customize, and fine-tune the onboard memory of a compatible Logitech G mouse.” Logitech lists version 2.7.4428, updated September 23, 2026, for Windows 10 and 11 (12.7 MB).

Two limits from Logitech’s own notes:

  • Only some Logitech G mice work with OMM. A mouse appears in OMM only if it is compatible.
  • While On-Board Memory Mode is enabled, you can’t change that device through G HUB. Turn the mode on in G HUB, close G HUB, then open OMM.

Get G HUB only from Logitech

Many sites offer G HUB and its tools, but the installer that Logitech’s troubleshooting guide points to is the one on support.logi.com. Our guide to fake download sites shows how lookalike pages exploit vendor software names. Logitech also lists the following to prevent repeat problems:

  • Keep G HUB updated through its built-in updater.
  • Never exit or force-quit G HUB while an update is in progress.
  • Quit G HUB properly before shutting down.

Our guides to the Armoury Crate uninstall tool and to NVIDIA App stuck or unable to connect cover similar problems with other vendor utilities.

Questions

Why is G HUB stuck on the loading screen?

Logitech says the G HUB service sometimes gets stuck, leaving the spinning logo. On a Mac, disabling G HUB in Login Items causes the same symptom.

Which G HUB processes should I end?

“LGHUB Agent” first, then every “LGHUB” process. Leave “LGHUB Updater” running, then restart LGHUBUpdaterService.

Will reinstalling G HUB delete my profiles?

The installer’s Reinstall option isn’t described as removing data. The manual method deletes the folder Logitech labels as user data, so expect to recreate profiles that aren’t saved on the device.

Can I use my Logitech mouse without G HUB?

Yes, if it has onboard memory. Logitech says settings saved with On-Board Memory Mode, such as DPI, carry to another computer without G HUB installed. Not every G HUB setting is stored on the mouse.

What is Onboard Memory Manager?

A lightweight Logitech utility for editing the onboard memory of compatible Logitech G mice, as an alternative to G HUB for those mice.

Why can’t I change settings in G HUB after enabling On-Board Memory Mode?

Logitech says you can’t make changes to the device through G HUB while that mode is enabled for it.

Does the latest G HUB run on Windows 10?

Yes. Logitech lists Windows 10 and 11. On Windows 10 1803 or older, Logitech says to use G HUB 2023.1.

Should I disable antivirus to install G HUB?

Logitech suggests it only if the installation fails. Do it only with the installer from Logitech, and re-enable protection afterwards.
