MSI Afterburner is a free Windows utility for GPU monitoring and tuning. Begin with the official MSI page and identify the release channel before downloading.
Official download and release channel
MSI’s Afterburner landing page lists 4.6.6 Final and a separate 4.6.7 Beta, both labelled September 2026. This catalogue entry uses the final release. We have not assigned a precise release day because MSI’s page supplies a month.
MSI describes Afterburner as free and available for graphics cards from other brands. Its advertised features include hardware monitoring, fan control, GPU clock and voltage adjustments, OC Scanner and an on-screen display. Availability of a particular tuning control should be checked on your hardware rather than assumed from a feature list.
Avoid look-alike download pages
MSI warns about impersonation and names msi.com and Guru3D as official distribution sources. Start from MSI’s own landing page. Similar spelling, a copied logo or a search advertisement does not authenticate a different download site. See our official-source checklist for the checks to make before opening a file.
Monitoring before tuning
Decide what you actually need. If your goal is to inspect temperature or display frame rate, record the baseline first. Do not copy another user’s voltage or clock settings simply because they use the same product name. A download page cannot establish the stability of a particular configuration on your PC.
For an overlay that is not appearing, start with our Afterburner and RTSS overlay guide. The RTSS software entry links its own publisher source. Check the overlay configuration before changing GPU tuning settings to solve a display problem.
Keep the installer check separate
After downloading, inspect the Windows file without launching it. Our digital-signature guide explains the read-only PowerShell command and how to interpret its output. If you obtain a checksum, use the exact release and filename when comparing it.
What we checked
On 30 September 2026 (UTC), we reviewed MSI’s official page for the stable version, beta label, distribution warning and advertised features. We did not install Afterburner, run OC Scanner, tune a GPU or independently verify this installer’s digital signature. We do not present benchmark results or a hardware compatibility guarantee.
