Apple Music is Apple’s music streaming subscription. It is built into iPhone, iPad and Mac, and Apple publishes official apps for Android and Windows. Apple’s page describes it as always ad-free, with Spatial Audio, radio shows and live performances. Apple Music Radio can be listened to for free; the full catalogue needs a subscription.
Who it suits
People who use an iPhone or Mac, or who share an Apple family plan, and anyone who wants an ad-free streaming service without a free-with-ads tier. It also has official apps for Android and Windows.
Get the official version
- iPhone and iPad: the Music app is built in. If you removed it, reinstall Apple Music from the App Store.
- Android: Google Play. Apple states you need Android 5.0 Lollipop or later, or a Chromebook that supports Android apps.
- Windows: Apple’s support page links to the Apple Music app in the Microsoft Store. iTunes for Windows is still used for podcasts and audiobooks.
- Mac: Apple Music lives in the built-in Music app; there is nothing extra to download.
