Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) removes graphics drivers and their leftovers, including registry keys, folders, files and driver store entries. It supports NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm and Lisuan GPUs, plus basic Realtek audio driver cleanup. The developer says the result is similar to installing a driver on a fresh Windows install for the first time. DDU is made by Wagnard (Ghislain Harvey) of Wagnardsoft. It is not made by NVIDIA, AMD or Intel.
When to use DDU
- A graphics driver won’t uninstall or install properly.
- You are switching GPU brands, for example from AMD to NVIDIA.
- You are removing a GPU you have already taken out of the PC. The DDU guide says to select that vendor before cleaning.
When not to use it
- For routine driver updates. The developer says DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing. Try the driver installer’s clean-install option first.
- Without your password and BitLocker key. DDU works best in Safe Mode. The developer warns that a Windows Hello PIN may not work there on Windows 11 24H2, and that BitLocker may ask for the recovery key.
- From a network drive or OneDrive folder. The developer says DDU won’t work there. Use a local drive.
Requirements
Windows 7 up to Windows 11 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or higher. Version 18.1.6.0 adds Windows on Arm support for Qualcomm Adreno (Snapdragon X). Disconnect from the internet, or block Windows Update, until you have installed the new driver. The developer marks this as a must.
Verify your download
The developer names www.wagnardsoft.com as DDU’s official download location. His release post links both builds and publishes their SHA-256 hashes, shown below. Portable or installer?
Both are official and both have published hashes. The portable build is a self-extracting archive. Extract it to a local folder.
Should I run DDU in Safe Mode?
The developer says Safe Mode is always best for stability. In normal mode, he says to clean, reboot, clean again and reboot.
Is Guru3D an official source?
Guru3D calls itself an official download partner. The developer’s policy names wagnardsoft.com as the official location and allows trusted mirrors that credit him. Check the hash either way.
