Warframe is a free-to-play online action game from Digital Extremes. You play as a Tenno, a warrior in a biomechanical suit called a Warframe, and take on missions alone or with friends in a squad, mixing third-person shooting, melee and fast movement. The game is updated regularly with new Warframes, quests and missions.

How to get the official version
- Windows: the installer from warframe.com/download, or through Steam or the Epic Games Store. The download page also offers a standalone offline installer for places such as internet cafes, which it says is slower to install.
- Android: Warframe on Google Play, published by Digital Extremes.
- iPhone and iPad: only through the App Store, seller Digital Extremes. The listing requires iOS 15.6 or later.
warframe.com also lists PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions. Warframe states there is currently no Mac or Linux version. Digital Extremes also publishes a separate Warframe Companion app, which does not run the game.
Cost and purchases
The game is free to download and play. It sells a premium currency and other items; Steam, Epic, Google Play and the App Store all note in-game or in-app purchases, and the ESRB rating on Steam lists “In-Game Purchases”.
Requirements
Warframe’s own minimum PC requirements are Windows 7 64-bit (32-bit is not supported), an Intel Core i7 860, Core i5 750 or AMD FX-4100 with SSE 4.2 support, a DirectX 11 graphics card, 4 GB of memory, 75 GB of storage and a broadband connection. DirectX 12 support requires Windows 10 20H2 or Windows 11.
