UltiMaker Cura is a free, open-source slicer: it prepares 3D models for printing by turning them into printer instructions. UltiMaker describes its slicing engine as powerful and open source, with more than 400 customisable settings. UltiMaker says it is trusted by millions and receives regular updates.
How to get the official version
Download it from the UltiMaker Cura page. The current release when we checked was 5.13.0, published on 28 May 2026, and the download buttons point to UltiMaker’s GitHub release:
- Windows: a standard installer (.exe) and an Enterprise installer (.msi) for managed deployment.
- macOS: DMG or PKG, each in separate Intel and Apple Silicon builds.
- Linux: an AppImage with a matching .asc signature file.
With winget: winget install Ultimaker.Cura. The page also links previous versions.
What’s new in 5.13
The release notes list profiles for the new UltiMaker Factor 4+ printer, an option to set file associations during Windows installation, new Infill Start/End Preference settings, and a “Lightning” option for support infill with its own angle settings.

Cura is 64-bit only. UltiMaker notes that not all Intel integrated graphics support OpenGL 4.1, and that the RAM, CPU and GPU you need depend on the size of the models you load.
Price and account
Cura is free to download, and the download does not ask for an account. UltiMaker’s site separately offers sign-in for its Digital Factory and Marketplace services.

What is the MSI installer for?
UltiMaker labels it the Windows Enterprise Installer. It is meant for IT departments that deploy software with MSI packages; home users should use the .exe.
Which Mac download should I choose?
Pick the ARM64 file for Apple Silicon Macs and the X64 file for Intel Macs. UltiMaker offers each build both as a DMG and as a PKG installer.
Is there a 32-bit version?
No. UltiMaker states that Cura is 64-bit only.
