WinRAR is a Windows archiver for creating RAR and ZIP archives and opening compressed files. The official download listings currently offer WinRAR 7.23 as the release build; RARLAB lists 7.30 beta 1 separately. Choose the release unless you intend to evaluate a beta.
Official download sources
- win-rar.com downloads: Windows installers by language, with a SHA-256 value for each named file.
- RARLAB downloads: release and beta builds in separate lists, plus command-line RAR packages.
Do not use a “free full version” or crack as a substitute for the publisher’s licence. Follow the official download links directly instead of a third-party download wrapper.
Is WinRAR free after 40 days?
No. The RAR and WinRAR licence permits a trial of up to 40 days, then requires a purchased licence for continued use. A registration reminder is not permission for indefinite free use. Its behaviour can vary by version and configuration.
The licence also distinguishes home use from business installations. Read its current terms for your situation and use the publisher’s shop for pricing; this page does not quote a universal purchase price.
Our check of the English Windows installers
On 30 September 2026 (UTC), we downloaded winrar-x64-723.exe separately from both official listings. The files had different byte sizes and SHA-256 values. Windows reported Valid Authenticode signatures with CN=win.rar GmbH for both.
The win-rar.com file’s calculated hash matched the value on that site. We did not find a corresponding per-file digest in the RARLAB listing, so our calculated RARLAB hash is an observation, not a publisher-provided checksum. We did not run either installer or determine why their packaging differed.
See our WinRAR hash comparison for the two exact file sizes, hashes and what to do when an expected value differs. The Windows signature guide explains how to inspect your own file without launching it.
Windows, Android and command-line RAR
The current Windows release listing is x64. RARLAB also lists a separate Android RAR app and command-line packages for Linux, FreeBSD, and Intel or Arm macOS. These are different products or builds; do not apply the Windows version, installer hash or interface description to all of them.
Need only to extract RAR files?
Our PeaZip review covers a free archiver and its RAR extraction support. Creating RAR files is a separate capability requiring the RAR component and its licence. We have not benchmarked either application.
Review scope: publisher pages, downloaded-file bytes and Windows signature inspection. This was not an installation, extraction benchmark, malware analysis or trial-expiry test. The source-check date describes this review; check the publisher’s listing for subsequent releases.
